The presence of the talented Dave Jones on any record is pretty much a guarantee that something of interest is going to happen and 'Exodus' is no exception......It's highly accomplished contemporary piano jazz that wouldn't be out of place on an ECM recording"
(01/04/2013 - Ian Mann reviewing the album Exodus)
In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, Dave recorded a number of sessions for BBC Radio 2 at Maida Vale Studios London and Pebble Mill Studios in Birmingham, which were subsequently broadcasted by Dave Gelly and Digby Fairweather.
Later in the 1990’s Dave appeared as pianist/arranger on audio and video recordings for an RNIB funded project with trumpeter Nick Hill.
The following year, he appeared on the album 'Alawon' by ‘Burum’.
He has also made several recent TV appearances on S4C‘s ‘Wedi 3’ and Wedi 7’ programme with Tomos Williams and Daniel Williams of 'Burum', and appeared with ‘Burum’ in a televised performance from the 2008 Brecon Jazz Festival.
In 2011, Dave recorded a second album with 'Burum', (released in Summer 2012), and in Jan 2012 he recorded a trio album in Wexford, Ireland, with drummer Kevin Lawlor, followed by an appearance with 'Burum' on the S4C show 'Heno' in August 2012, performing a track from their new album.
"... I was fortunate to work with the trio of pianist Dave Jones, a musician of formidable gifts"
(Simon Spillett, Jazz UK Oct/Nov 2011)
Dave also played on the albums 'Caniadau' (2012) and 'Llef' (2016) with 'Burum', and also played on Khamira's debut album, recorded at Martin Levan's Red Kite Studio, which is due for release in May 2017.
